Going, Going, Gone...A Dream Come True

If you want to put yourself in Nicki's shoes since she was a kid, what would you make out of life? It's safe to say for me, that what she went through with her father being a severe drug addict and trying to kill her mother, I wouldn't be the successful women she is today; I know the dark past was just more motivation to get her mother away, but myself, and maybe you, wouldn't be able to handle it.

I always knew that before Nicki Minaj was famous, her family and herself weren't financially supported and that her dad did some bad things; this was all explained in her song 'Autobiography', but I didn't realize how badly she was affected from her last. I'm utterly shocked to find out that Nicki's father attempted to burn down their home, while his wife was inside; it's interesting to think of the great, successful women Nicki became to be, especially with all she has been through.

Another thing I found very interesting about Nicki is that she was found of MySpace. Nicki, a great, huge, independent, successful rapper was found off of some dinky, social network! That just proves to me that no matter where you are or what you want to be in life, I'd you put your mins to it and stay strong...you can accomplish anything.

The most difficult or challenging thing that I encountered while creating this blog was the IPads. Most of the time, I have been posting this blog and updating on the IPad, but it was extremely difficult because it wasn't always reliable and didn't always work...in fact, most of the time, it wouldn't work or it would malfunction.

Another difficult thing I have experienced was the fact that with Nicki Minaj came a lot of blocked websites. I have been updating this at school and a lot of things or picutres I wanted to add we're blocked on the schools wifi. I think it's the fact that Nicki isn't the most humble person ever and some of her songs, most, aren't exactly school appropriate, but I pulled through and got what I needed!

The most rewarding thing about this blog was just getting it all completed. I have always wanted to make my own personal blog and this was something that gave me a fun opportunity; even though it was school related, I can definitely say I had a lot of fun with this project. I feel like I have learned a lot about this individual and I will continue to make different blogs!

It's rewarding to me that I have learned a lot more about Nicki and her past and see her, even more, as a strong individual who is the epitome of women empowerment and she wants every girl to feel like that.

To conclude this topic about Nicki Minaj, I want to leave you thinking this: If you were in her shoes as a kid , how would you turn out to be? She has thrived for fame and success and pursued it until her dream was a reality. She is an idol.

No pain, No Gain

Nicki Minaj has done many great things as she's been put into the world of fame, but there's certain things people don't recognize her for. When people see her, they instantly think rapper or artist; that's who she it, but it's what she's done to become who she is that's important. Down below is a list of accomplishments that she's done to become the successful women she is now; this is to somewhat give her and this topic a good closure.

This year, 2012, Nicki decided to take the initiative to become closer to her fans, and so she made her own perfume called, "Pink Friday". For the first time, the perfume is made to appeal to both men and women with a scent for either gender. She launched her perfume based off of her first album title, Punk Friday and the perfume is a nice citrusy spritz. She released her perfume in mid September.

Before the fame, Nicki and her family were broke and it crossed her mind that she wants her mother to feel the empowerment of being an individual. Minaj made it her mission in life to become famous and then be able to afford her mother her own home; that would make it easier to live life apart from her mom's abusive husband and would grant her female empowerment.

To jump start her career as a female rapper, Nicki was discovered off of MySpace and was instantly signed to a famous record label called, Young Money. Lil Wayne was more than happy to sign Nicki as the first female member of the group. Minaj and Lil Wayne then decided to make a mixtape, now known as their 3rd, Beam Me Up, Scotty; this song made fame instantly and Nicki then decided to start making her own music as well and has done some songs with Drake such as, Moment For Life.

In 2012, Minaj won the Moonman award for the beat female music video award for her amazing song, Starships. Minaj was stunned by winning with her summer-hit song and strongly felt the support from her fan base, Barbz.

Nicki's last accomplishment that I wanted you guys to know about was becoming the first artist to get more than 1 No. 1 on the top Billboard 200. The album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded topped the charts.

To end this post, I want to explain what Nicki has made herself out to be. She is judged by so many people that just know her for who she is today, and not what she has done. She's bashed on sites like Twitter, Tumblr, and especially celebrity gossip sites such as Perez Hilton; people aren't aware of what she went through as a child to become successful and to help her mother become independent. If I have been through what she has, I know for a fact I would be a mess instead of a hit sensation rapper.

Your Mood and the Music

Has anybody ever thought about the way your mood is varies by the music genre you listen to?

Parents in modern day probably have no idea hat kind of music their mid listens to, and it's not a bad idea to check their music source even so often. There's quite a few music genres young adults listen to, and it will either have a positive or a negative influence on their attitudes and outlook on life and the attribute to the choices they make.

It's been said by ,any people on YahooVoices that rap has different ways of impacting a person; obviously because everyone is different. Rap can make a person happy or angry; rap songs are more known to promote angry feelings more than any other genre of music. When an artist raps about, for example, hating the world and everyone in it, or rapping about getting into a fight, lyrics about implying drugs and other illegal substances and etc., it puts the idea out there for the audience that is listening, that its okay to do all of the bad stuff the rapper is doing and trying to make it the 'new cool', when in reality it does more harm than good to do those things, but they don't tell you that.

Young adults, both male and female, who listen to rap music are generally more accepting of violence towards women.

http://voices.yahoo.com/how-music-affects-mood-2583302.html?cat=72

Rap generally has lyrics and music videos of disrespect towards women by either having a female be 'that girl that's dancing inappropriately by the rapper', or just standing by the rapper who's surrounded by females and holding a wad of cash or throwing it up in the air, looking like his property. To me, rap sends The message of it being okay to disrespect women and be more violent because that's generally what they rap about now a days and young adults will rub off on it.

Now, above is what I call bad rap, or negative influenced rap, but believe it or not there is actually good rap out there, and good quality rap doesn't necessarily have to suck. If the artist takes the time to make meaningful, positive influenced rap, then by all means people are less likely to lash out in violence and aggression. Sometimes, rap can do so much as to make an individual feel happy. There are numerous people who state that rap music makes them feel more relaxed; others feel more energetic because rap music promotes dancing and movement. Rap varies differently on effecting an individual, showing diverse results. Depending on the person, listening to rap can either be good or bad in the long run.

Female Rap: The Origin

PhotoCredit: Glogster.com

Rap is the genre of music many people believe to be male dominant, but there's quite a few female rappers out in the world that are famous, some evven making history; one being Nicki Minaj.

Shockingly enough, the world's first female rapper to hit the stage was someone who went by the stage name of Lady B. Her real name, Wendy CLark, released the first ever rap single by female in 1979, calling the song 'To the Beat Y'all.'

When it comes to sucha braod topic of female rap, there's an endless source of somebody becoming the first, for instance, black female rapper, or first female rap croup; this is simply because rap could be seen as an arena with celebrities and people thriving to succeed try so hard to be on top and outshine the top rappers. For instance, when Nicki Minaj outshines everyone, including the famous Madonna and her latest album MDNA, and got Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded on top of the Billboard 200 chart. Minaj made modern history by becoming the first rapper ever to get more than one No. 1 album.

Rap obvioulsy started way back in time without any record deals with people rapping at: parties, clubs, talent shows, and in the park before any act was signed. There's no doubt in my mind that rap, female and male, go far back, but the main point is that there are female rappers in the world and it started with Endy. I believe Nicki, and many other females, are helping female rap remain existent in the music industry and are making sure to keep it on top. In other words, Nicki is still making modern history throughout rap and will continue to do so; maybe one day we could look back and see the changes she's made and call that history as well.

How To Become A Rapper:

PhotoCredit: highlifeurbanfashion.blogspot.com

There are many little things you can do to become a rapper, but you must be careful of the way you approach these simple steps; you have to realize there's no point in being famousd in what you love to do if you're disliked by everyone, otherwise your career will go down the drain. For rappers, there's the right way and the wrong way. If you copy other rapper's lyrics or style/beat, or send bad messages through your song, you're taking the wrong path and it's more likely that nobody will respect you or your music.

The baby steps to becoming a successful rapper is to first understand what your voice is capable of and to build and practice upon these skills.

  • Spit out sentences in rap to get a feeling of what it's like
  • Make up some rhymes to put together on a sheet of paper and save them
  • Practice in front of honest people, such as: family, friends, relatives, you could even perform at public places like local or school talent shows
Along with the lyrics of the song, you need to have a unique beat, but not just any kind; you need one that

  • Is your own (not copied from other artists)
  • Fits in with the lyrics
  • Is catchy and different from the mainstream ones
If you want to become a famous rapper who's successful, you most importantly need to set out to be different from other artists, otherwise you will be labeled as someone who can't make their own music and you will become original.

Alot of times, people just assume good rap is fast rap, but that's not always the case. Be careful in the way you rap; it doesn't need to be fast, but be sure it's something that's relevant to people and makes sense. You can't just put together words that rhyme and call it good; rap is simply more complicated than most people assume. It's good to have lyrics that people can relate to and it's also the easiest to send messages through rap.

  • Don't use repetitve words. People will think you're uncreative.
  • Don't rhyme words together and call it good. Make sense out of what you're saying
  • Try to put a good, positive message through your lyrics
If you send influencial messages through your song and lyrics, you will most likely open up your music to alot more people. For example, if you rap about drugs and negative and harmful things, parents would limit your audience by banning their children from your music, only opening up to the limited amount of people who are in a downhill spiral in life. If you have good quality rap, along with postivie lyrics, your audience will increase tremedously because parents will allow children to listen to you and more teens will think you are a genuinly good rapper.
These are little things you can do to become the successful, appreciated, influencial rapper you've always wanted to be when you grew up. Follow these simple steps and you'll be signing records in no time.
